Michael Ugom is a Geography graduate with a Masters in Environmental Management and Control from the University of Nigeria. His flair for writing and photography developed from childhood, inspiring his choice of study. As an undergraduate, he received multiple awards for his excellence in Geography and designed several maps using GIS tools. Michael is also skilled in Cartography, Geoinformatics, Web Development, and Basic Python programming. He served as Academic Director during his studies, introducing intra-faculty debates, quizzes, and tutorials, fostering appreciation for Geography and other science subjects. He also designed a model globe to illustrate the world's geography and organized tutorials to support academically weaker students.
Michael's internship at the National Space Research and Development Agency fueled his interest in space and astronomy. He published numerous articles and academic journals on space science applications in food security, healthcare, flooding, crime mapping, and more. During graduate studies, he excelled in Global Environmental Challenge, exploring solutions to environmental disasters worldwide. He also created travel content for his blog, guiding readers across different parts of Nigeria.
Michael's professional journey in writing and travel photography began on the Steemit blockchain in 2017. He worked with agencies including Space In Africa, Polygon (Matic), NFTSwap, Hive, and Svetrating. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, he co-authored "Stories from History to Help Us Through the COVID-19 Pandemic," published on Amazon. Since then, he has authored and co-authored multiple books on space science, astronomy, blockchain, and travel.
