Auckland is New Zealand's most populous city and a multi-cultural hub for food, music, arts and culture. Also known as “The City of Sails”, Auckland stretches over volcanic hills and around two harbors, offering a stunning mix of natural wonder and urban adventure.
Auckland offers an urban environment where most people live only thirty minutes from gorgeous beaches, hiking trails and dozens of breathtaking vacation islands. Add in a sunny climate, the beat of Polynesian culture in the background and a love for great food, wine and shopping, and you begin to get an overview of Auckland, New Zealand's largest and most diverse city.
The weather in Auckland is subtropical which offers a somewhat moderate climate all year round. Summer is beautiful here, warm and sunny, but not too hot with an average temperature of 25 degrees. During winter, the weather is moderate with an average temperature of 11 degrees.

One Tree Hill Domain, also called Maungakiekie, lies in the middle of the Tamaki isthmus and, excluding the mighty Rangitoto, is the largest intact crater in Auckland. From the top, you can see both of Auckland's harbours, and its proximity to the city makes it a popular all-year-round destination for walkers and families. At night, the panorama of the city from the summit is particularly impressive (there is no road access at night, however).
Give it your all, leave Auckland without regrets. Try the Sky Jump from the iconic Sky Tower, or step onto the ledge - 192 meters above ground level! If that's not enough, head to the Auckland Harbor Bridge to Climb the Bridge or plunge into Waitemata Harbor. Only in New Zealand can you find extreme activity like this. Epic!
When it comes to dining options for every occasion and desire, the city center spoils you with plenty of options. From snacks to fine dining and everything in between, dining in the city center is completely different from dining elsewhere in Auckland.
